SRCP: Self-Recorded Creative Practice
Age range: 12–40
Format: 1-to-1, in-person creative trauma-informed sessions
About SRCP
SRCP is a trauma-responsive, self-recorded audio creative therapy process, designed to help people safely explore their emotions and regain a sense of agency through sound, voice and artistic expression.
Using guided prompts, participants record their own voice, affirmations, and reflections – layering them with personal calming sounds (think rain, instrumental loops, city ambience, heartbeats, etc.) to create a bespoke grounding audio they can keep and return to whenever they need it.
It’s not group therapy, and it’s not clinical — it’s a private, creative process that centres choice, control, and gentle self-discovery. Sessions are held 1-to-1 with a trained SRCP facilitator, in a quiet, safe space, using headphones, a microphone and simple software.
Who is it for?
Anyone aged 12–40 who has experienced trauma, loss, anxiety, emotional shutdown, low motivation or disconnect
People who struggle with traditional talk-based therapy, or want something more creative
Professionals looking for an evidence-informed, low-cost wellbeing intervention to integrate into community, justice, education or arts settings
Why it works
Empowerment & ownership: Participants hear their own voice guiding them – not someone else’s
Agency & control: They choose what to record, how it sounds, and when they use it
Neurobiologically informed: Repetition of positive self-talk in a familiar voice + calming auditory cues supports nervous system regulation
Creative, not clinical: It feels like making something, not “doing therapy”
What happens in a session?
Creative discussion — mood, triggers, favourite sounds, personal goals
Recording & layering — guided affirmations / vocal prompts + chosen soundscapes
Editing & reflection — fine-tuning, naming their track, discussing use
Digital delivery — headphones, MP3 player or phone version to take away

As a grassroots organisation committed to innovation, we are not only delivering SRCP on the ground — we are actively documenting outcomes and participant feedback with the aim of producing the first official white paper on Self-Recorded Creative Practice. Our goal is to secure SRCP’s place as a recognised, evidence-based model within the wider field of trauma-informed arts practice, ensuring it can be commissioned, replicated, and scaled ethically.
